Description
"Chinga la Migra" translates as "Fuck border control." According to the national advocacy network Miijente's website, "Chinga La Migra is a multi-city organizing tour and web series spearheaded by Mijente and grassroots local organizations. This summer we are hitting the road to tell the story of what the deportation crisis looks like in real time, what the local efforts are to face that challenge and point towards real points of strategic overlap for trans-local and national organizing. Chinga la Migra is a battle cry. In the time of Trump, we know we’ve got to play defense, but we’re going to be real offensive doing it." "Queers Bash Back" may reference Bash Back!, a 2008 movement meant to critique and confront the mainstream LGBTQ movement. It is unclear if this flyer is officially connected with either movement or if the sign reference's the discourses/language the movements raised. The flip-flop may be a reference to "La Chancla," a common item used for discipline in Mexican communities.
